Welcome to WP Fast Track: An Introduction

I’ve taken some turns through my career as a website builder.

In the late 90s I dealt with the sludgy-slow results of pioneering web building tools and the excessive time requirements of coding by hand for my own websites.

In the 2000s I started my web design business for a few small businesses.

In the 2010s I also made $35K a year for a company that did nothing but drag its feet and bleed its clients to the tune of five figures over several months for hard-to-edit websites.

I later built similar, sometimes superior sites for other companies in about a day and a half.

It was during these later years that I discovered and put to use a web-building solution that is so powerful, flexible and learnable that I’ve been able to teach computer-leery small business owners how to use it. In doing so, they can take a few minutes a day to get into their websites, post their content, and never have to worry about webmaster fees just to post an extra article, keep the site updated technically, and make creative and functional changes.

Welcome to WP Fast Track. This is the quick-start guide that can help you:

  • Find and purchase your own domain
  • Install the WordPress platform so you have your own website control panel
  • Customize your website: add functionality, files and followers
  • Maintain and improve your website as it grows

This guide was created with one purpose: help small business owners break free of the slow response times, cost-ineffective rates, and spotty communication that often accompany web design services. It is written with a focus on building a website, rather than bogging the reader down with too many theoretical variables and options.
To those of you who have signed up, I thank you and hope you enjoy making your own WordPress site.
